Mel, the founder of Snow Cooks did her first ski season in 1987/88 and after cooking for various companies all over the Alps, with her partner, set up a chalet company in 1994 building up a good reputation over the years that followed.
The past summer seasons have been spent either as a private chef in villas or a restaurateur, gaining more and more experience along the way. A keen traveller and love of different cuisines, she likes to incorporate flavours from around the world in to her menus.
During the winter seasons, Mel offers an in-chalet meal service as a private chef or delivers meals to chalets as requested. The focus outside the ski season now is on chalet cooking courses, as well as providing future staff to chalet companies. The courses are not only great to add to your resumé especially when applying for a chalet host position, but also ideal for students about to embark on their independent life away from home or even those required to complete their Gold DOE award
She has lived in Peisey for more than 25 years along with her partner and two children so has first hand knowledge not only of the industry but of this beautiful area and all it has to offer.
Mel has always had a passion for food and skiing, which together is the perfect recipe to work a season in a chalet!
During the week, guest tutors and ex chalet staff will be dropping by to impart their experiences and expertise in all areas of chalet hosting and cooking.
